Explaining complex things in simple words: Protecting sky over Kharkiv region, Russian invaders’ crimes, Bejing’s re in overcoming Russian crisis

The Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security pursues efforts to provide a brief explanation to foreign audiences on the current tics of particular interest as regards Ukraine.

PROTECTION OF THE SKY IN KHARKIV REGION

On May 14, Russian tros once again launched missiles and bomb attacks on residential areas of Kharkiv. At least 16 pele were injured, including three children.

Missile terror against civilians is an integral part of Russian aggression. Appeals to international law are ineffective; it is necessary to strengthen air defence.

In recent months, Kharkiv region has become the main target of Russian terror against the civilian pulation.

Ukraine needs at least two Patriot air defence systems for Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. This was announced by President Vodymyr Zelenskyy at the meeting with U.S. State Secretary Anthony Blinken.

We also welcome Germany's initiatives, in particular, to provide one more IRIS-T air defence system and one more Patriot.

We count on similar steps by other partners, and, above all, by the U.S.

RUSSIAN INVADERS’ CRIMES

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has begun an investigation into the shootings of local residents and vunteers by the Russian invaders in the war zone of the northern part of the Kharkiv region.

Wherever the Russian invaders go, the terror, torture, and murder of Ukrainians begin. The Russian occupation poses a direct threat to the pulation of Ukraine.

To save the local pulation from Russian shelling and the dangers of the occupation, Ukrainian authorities are conducting an organized evacuation from the war zone.

We call on vunteers who help locals with evacuation to coordinate their actions with the pice and military administration to avoid threats to life and health.

All Russian crimes are investigated, the persons invved in their commission are identified, and their actions are given a legal assessment.

The defence and liberation of Ukrainian settlements from the Russian invaders primarily correspond to the interests of their residents. We will not leave our fellow citizens in the enemy’s bloody hands.

BEIJING'S RE IN OVERCOMING THE RUSSIAN CRISIS

On May 16-17, Russian dictator Putin will pay a visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Official Beijing often uses the incorrect term ‘’Ukrainian crisis’’, while we should talk about ‘’Russian crisis’’, because the source of world instability is precisely Russian aggression.

Just Putin can quickly end the Russian-Ukrainian war. For this, it is necessary to simply st the aggression and withdraw the occupying forces back to Russia beyond the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine.

Of all the countries in the world, only China can really effectively influence Putin so that he sts the aggression against Ukraine. Beijing's peacekeeping mission may lie in this.

Attempts to hd another round of negotiations between Ukraine and Putin's regime are a waste of time.

Putin will fight against Ukraine until he exhausts Russia's resources or until he receives a decisive signal from China about the inadmissibility of destroying the foundations of the international security system.
