Explaining complex things in simple words: military aid from Germany, Lukashenko’s threats
MILITARY AID FROM GERMANY
Western media are spreading claims that Germany is ending military support for Ukraine.
Statements about the termination of support for Ukraine by Germany are incorrect and manipulative.
The budget process is ongoing in Germany. In the draft budget for 2025, the Government of Germany has planned €4 billion for assistance to Ukraine; it is the same amount that was planned last year at this stage of the budget process.
Last year, the amount of aid to Ukraine from Germany increased at the parliamentary stage of adting the budget in the fall. We expect that the Government of Germany will find the possibility of additional funding for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in 2025 as well.
Questions regarding the provision of military aid to Ukraine by Germany in 2025 are in no way related to the current features of the course of the military campaign in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In 2024, Ukraine received military aid from Germany in full amount.
LUKASHENKO'S THREATS
On August 18, in an interview with Russian media, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko stated that he had deployed “almost a third of his army” along the border with Ukraine.
Lukashenko's statements are untrue. The situation on the border with
Belarus has not changed. The State Border Guard Service does not record an increase in the number of equipment or personnel of the Belarusian tros.
Lukashenko acts in the interests of Putin. His purpose is to divert part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which are performing tasks in the zone of active hostilities, to cover the border with Belarus.
The forces covering the northern borders of Ukraine are ready to repel any provocations that the Lukashenko’s regime may resort to.
Ukraine has no interest in or intention to start hostilities against Belarus, but is ready to respond harshly to a repeated invasion attempt.
