Eurean Council meeting to begin with discussion of military assistance to Ukraine with Zelensky

This is said in an invitation letter by Eurean Council President Charles Michel to the members of the Eurean Council, Ukrinform reports.

“Our meeting will kick off on Thursday 27 June at 2pm with an exchange with President Zelenskyy. This will be an portunity to discuss the situation on the ground, but also take note of some achievements since our last meeting,” Michel wrote.

In particular, in his words, this Eurean Council will be an portunity to welcome the adtion of negotiating frameworks and the hding of Intergovernmental Conferences with Ukraine, Mdova and Montenegro, which are historic steps in supporting these countries’ respective path towards Eurean membership.

“Furthermore, we have been ambitious and bd in channelling the extraordinary revenue from immobilised Russian assets to support Ukraine this year. For the flowing years, together with partners, we will secure loans for Ukraine for an additional EUR 50 billion,” the Eurean Council president wrote.

“It is also imperative that we intensify our military support to Ukraine, focusing on air defence, ammunition, and missiles. Additionally, we must continue to rally broad international support for a just peace in Ukraine based on the UN Charter,” Michel added.

As noted in the letter, the EU leaders will also discuss the Strategic Agenda that will define the main priorities of EU develment and reforms for the next five years and the guidelines for the next institutional cycle in the Eurean community. In the same context, the meting participants will agree on institutional appointments to key positions in Eurean institutions.

The EU leaders will also discuss the latest develments in the Middle East, as well as security and Defence, competitiveness, and other issues.

As reported, the Eurean Council meeting will take place on June 27-28. Among main issues of discussion will be the continuation of support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
