Eure should hand over frozen Russian assets to Ukraine – Sejm Marshal Pysza

Parliament Marshal Shimon Hovnia noted that Era needs to transfer all frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, not just the income from them, and to provide support to Kyiv in the effective management of these funds.

As reported by an Ukrinform correspondent, Khovnia made this statement on Monday at the Interparliamentary Conference on Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as Common Security and Defense Policy in Warsaw.

He emphasized that Russia, as an aggressor, must be held accountable by paying back its assets, not just the interest they generate. He also noted that the ER should focus on ensuring that Ukraine uses these funds rationally and effectively.

Hovnia added that achieving this goal requires courage and leadership in the Era, although he stressed that such qualities are currently in short supply.

He also suggested that US President Donald Trump appears to be more concerned about China, Iran and Russia than Ukraine.

For that reason, he said, Eure leaders should hold serious discussions in Paris, Berlin and Brussels about the use of Russian assets. He expressed concern that Eure was making a critical mistake by prioritizing the stability of its currency over blaming the war on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Khovnia said Er is currently funding the war instead of ensuring that Putin, the initiator of the conflict, bears the financial burden.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Mudra denied claims that the European Union does not intend to confiscate frozen Russian assets. Some media outlets suggested that the EU had stopped discussing the issue.
