Despite significant losses at the front, the Russian Federation is planning further offensive operations and expanding mobilization processes — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Defense Forces are effectively destroying the offensive potential of the Russian army, in particular, its irreversible losses have already reached about 60%. At the same time, according to him, the Russian leadership is preparing new further offensive operations and plans to expand mobilization processes.

He wrote about this in Telegram based on the results of a report by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Oleg Ivashchenko, on April 28.

“The Ukrainian Defense Forces are ensuring the destruction of the offensive potential of the Russian army, and the indicator of irretrievable losses of the occupiers is already about 60% of the total losses. Despite this, the Russian political leadership is planning further offensive operations and preparing to attract more personnel, in particular by expanding mobilization processes in Russia,” the president wrote.

According to him, Ukrainian intelligence has internal documents of the Russian General Staff, which indicate: “the occupiers themselves admit their inability to fulfill the tasks of their political leadership.”

In view of this, Zelensky outlined further priority tasks for the Defense Forces, including increasing the percentage of irretrievable losses of the Russian army, tightening the line of drone use on the front line, and scaling up “our long-range sanctions against Russian arms production and the oil industry.”

“We will also inform our partners about the further development in Moscow of plans for operations against NATO countries, as well as attempts to involve Belarus more in the implementation of Russian tasks,” the president added.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that the spring offensive of the Russian troops had failed, but they did not plan to stop the war. According to him, the Russian Federation does not have the forces for a large-scale offensive, so it is conducting tactical attempts to infiltrate, which the Ukrainian military is destroying.

On April 17, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Vadym Skibitsky, stated that Russia was preparing a new ground assault on southeastern Ukraine, drawing on strategic reserves to replenish its Armed Forces by approximately 20,000 troops.

On April 1, the spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Tregubov, stated that Russia continues to accumulate troops before the offensive — in particular, it is conducting rotations and preparing equipment in the Velyky Burlutsk direction.

“Let's take the Velikoburlutsk direction, which has been relatively quiet for us recently. There, firstly, some units are being withdrawn directly to the territory of Russia and new ones are being brought in from Russia, that is, the restoration of personnel. Not reinforcement, but rather restoration to the number that was before the winter campaign,” says the spokesman for the UOS.
