Biden announces his withdrawal from presidential race

The current head of the White House, Joe Biden, has announced his intention to withdraw from the presidential election.

According to Ukrinform, Biden announced this in a letter published on his page on the social network X.

"It has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as your president. And while it has been intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus sely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," he wrote.

Biden also assured that he would address the nation later and tell more about his decision.

"For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who worked so hard to get me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt  appreciation to the American pele for the faith and trust you have placed in me." the White House chief said.

The US presidential election will be held on 5 November.
