Ambassador: Ceasefire means 25% of Ukraine’s territory will remain under Russian contr

For Ukraine, the initiative of some countries to establish a regime of war cessation with the further prospect of peace talks means that the temporarily occupied territories remain under the contr of the Russian Federation, which gains time to resume attacks with renewed vigour.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar said this in an interview with Euronews in Turkey.

"Many countries have prosed the idea of a ceasefire, but no one thinks about what it means," Bodnar said.

According to him, the ceasefire means that "25% of Ukraine's territory remains under Russian contr", and Russia "gains time to strengthen its forces to strengthen its capabilities and resume attacks on Ukraine".

Ukraine's Ambassador to Turkey stressed that countering the Russian occupation is primarily about protecting Ukraine's territorial integrity within the framework of international law.

"Any other prosal for a sution should not be considered, and for this reason we rejected it," the diplomat added.

He also stressed that Ukraine's vision of peace is primarily the withdrawal of Russian tros from Ukrainian territories.

During the conversation, the diplomat stressed the importance of Ukraine's accession to NATO to ensure its own security in the future, as well as joining the Eurean Union.

As reported by Ukrinform, in early July, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at a meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, said that a just peace in Russia's war against Ukraine was possible, which could satisfy both sides, and that Turkey was ready to lay the groundwork for consensus, first through a ceasefire and then to achieve peace.
