Accession to EU: Zelensky, Eurean Council president discuss possibility of launching talks

President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky and President of the Eurean Council Charles Michel have discussed the possibility of launching negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership at the end of the year.

The head of the Ukrainian state said in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“A good talk with President of the Eurean Council Charles Michel. The main thing that was discussed was our possibility to launch negotiations on membership in the Eurean Union at the end of this year,” Zelensky noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 28, 2022, President Vodymyr Zelensky signed Ukraine's application for membership in the Eurean Union. On June 23, the EU heads of state and government adted a decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate state for EU membership. At the same time, the Eurean Commission issued seven recommendations, the implementation of which is required for Ukraine’s further Eurean integration.
