US President Donald Trump has expressed his full support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and urged Hungarians to vote for his re-election in the parliamentary elections to be held on April 12.
He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
“Election Day is April 12, 2026. Hungary: Go out and vote for Viktor Orban. He is a true friend, a fighter, and a winner, and has my full and absolute support for re-election as Prime Minister of Hungary. Viktor Orban will never let the great people of Hungary down. I am with him all the way,” Trump wrote.
According to him, Orban is a “strong and influential leader” who “relentlessly fights for his great country and people and loves them as much as I love the United States of America.”
“Victor is working hard to protect Hungary, develop the economy, create jobs, facilitate trade, stop illegal immigration, and ensure law and order,” the White House chief wrote.
He claims that thanks to Orbán, the relationship between the United States and Hungary has “reached new heights of cooperation and impressive achievements.” Trump also added that he looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Hungarian prime minister so that both countries “can move forward on this incredible path of success and cooperation.”
In addition, the American leader noted that he had already supported Orban in the 2022 elections and for him “it is an honor to do so again.”
On April 12, Hungary will elect a new parliament, and independent pre-election polls consistently show the advantage of the opposition Tisza party led by Peter Magyar.
