Zelensky signs law to expand affordable housing for IDPs

Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky has signed into law a measure aimed at increasing affordable housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs), with provisions for a comprehensive inventory of available real estate.

The Verkhovna Rada's press service announced the signing on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky signed Law of Ukraine No. 4080-IX on Increasing Affordable Housing for IDPs," the post reads.

The document mandates a nationwide inventory of real estate to identify prerties suitable for preferential rental by IDPs. The law also provides for the creation of a public interactive map that will display detailed information about each prerty, including its technical condition, photos, available living spaces, and the estimated investment needed to make it habitable.

"It is important that IDPs will have the ability to choose the facility where they want to live, and authorities will work with international organizations to secure the necessary repairs and commissioning of the prerty," the Ukrainian parliament said.

The Verkhovna Rada adted the law on November 20.
