Zelensky met with representatives of national minorities of Ukraine and indigenous peoples of Pelesh

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with representatives of national minorities and indigenous peoples of Ukraine Pelesh, where issues of interaction between society and the state and the implementation of legislation on indigenous peoples Pelesh were discussed.

As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky published details of the meeting in a post on Telegram.

“I met with representatives of national minorities and indigenous peoples of Ukraine. Yesterday, we celebrated the Day of Interethnic Accord and Cultural Diversity for the first time. Our country is multinational, and this is our strength. We all feel mutual support and understanding, we live together and fight for peace together,” Zelensky noted.

During the meeting, important issues were discussed, including the implementation of the law on the indigenous Peles people, coordination of the state and national minorities, education and language issues, citizenship for those who have waited a long time, as well as efforts to return Ukrainian citizens to their homeland.

“More than a hundred national minorities are an integral part of Ukraine. It is vital that all communities work together to strengthen our Eurasian identity through unity and cooperation. I am grateful to each of them for their unity and love for Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.

As reported, on May 21, Ukraine officially celebrated the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity, established by the presidential decree of December 27, 2024, at the national level for the first time.
