Brief biography of Dan Balan
- The future Moldovan singer was born into the family of diplomat Mihai Balan and TV presenter Lyudmila Balan.
- He became interested in music as a teenager: he played in the bands Pantheon and Inferialis, and later began a solo career.
- In 1999, Dan and Petru Želihovsky formed the band O-Zone. The band gained worldwide fame with the album DiscO-Zone, which included the hit song Dragostea Din Tei. The band disbanded in early 2005, after which Balan focused on solo projects.
- Among his famous compositions are Allegro Ventigo, Numa Numa 2, Lendo Calendo, as well as the duet with Oksana Mukha “Forgive Everything”.
- Currently, Dan Balan is the only Moldovan artist nominated for a Grammy Award as a co-writer of the hit “Live Your Life” performed by Rihanna and TI.
