Ukrainian Council of Churches Condemns Russia's Attacks on Ukraine During Easter
This is stated in a statement by the Council of Churches and Religious Organizations of Ukraine regarding Russia's terrorist attacks on Ukraine during Easter, Ukrinform reports.
“Despite the festive time associated with the celebration of Jewish and Christian Passover, the Russian state continues to terrorize Ukrainian cities and villages both day and night, carrying out drone and missile attacks, as well as shelling. As a result of these attacks, many civilians have been killed and injured, and residential buildings and other public infrastructure have been destroyed in cities such as Krivoy Rog, Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and others,” the statement said.
According to the Council, the state that calls itself “Hy Rus” clearly does not adhere to any sacred values. This demonstrates a complete disregard for human life, not to mention respect for the holidays of Christianity and Judaism.
It is worth noting that this year all Christians – Orthodox, Catholics and Protestants – celebrate Easter on the same day, which makes this holiday especially significant. This year also marks the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, which is a historical milestone for all Christians.
“We, the heads of Ukrainian churches and religious organizations, categorically condemn the terrorist attacks of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian cities and villages and call on the leading countries of the world to take all possible measures to stop Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and strengthen Ukraine's capabilities for self-defense and protection of life. We call on all people of good will to pray for the victory of truth and a just peace for Ukraine,” the statement emphasizes.

The Council of Churches and Religious Organizations of Ukraine expresses condolences to the victims of Russian state terrorism and prays to the Almighty for just retribution for those guilty of this and all other acts of terror committed against the people of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Council of Churches of Ukraine supported the bill, which is aimed at banning the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
