The President congratulated the SBU employees on Independence Day and presented awards

“Over the years of this war, the SBU has truly become a combat-ready special service, highly effective and powerful. This is exactly what our state needs. SBU special forces are deployed on all defense fronts – from the Kursk and Kharkiv regions to the hottest spots on the front in Donetsk and southern Ukraine,” Zelensky noted.

In particular, the President emphasized the combat achievements of the SBU both at the front and in the enemy's rear, as well as in the conflict for the Black Sea. The special service, together with other Security and Defense Forces, successfully destroyed and sank a significant part of the Russian fleet, using surface unmanned vehicles. This forced the enemy to hide its warships in the bays of Novorossiysk and move from ultimatums to the need to negotiate on ensuring security in the Black Sea, the Head of State noted.

“I would also like to highlight the work of the Security Service of Ukraine to maintain internal stability in our country – countering Russian saboteurs, agent networks and various operations, including Russia's cyberattacks against Ukraine in the rear. Each such prevented operation means saving the lives of Ukrainians. Thank you!” Zelensky added.

In turn, the Head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk noted that during the war the special service underwent significant changes and transformations, tempered its spirit and gained invaluable combat experience.

“Today, the list of tasks of the SBU is very broad: from the liquidation of the military potential of the Russian Federation to the fight against terrorism on the streets of Ukrainian cities and villages. Together with our fighters from the Defense Forces, we confidently protect each front line, because the lives and safety of citizens are behind us,” Malyuk emphasized.
