Today, March 9, Ukrainians celebrate the 212th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian artist Taras Shevchenko. The writer's work was so multifaceted that contemporaries try to imitate it in various manifestations.

On such an important day , Channel 24 has prepared a selection of the best songs that not only gave a “second wind” to Taras Hryhorovych's poems, but also demonstrated their relevance.

KOZAK SYSTEM – “Haydamatska”

The authors used Shevchenko's poetry for their debut album “Shablya”. The song was called “Haydamatska”, which was set to the words of the great Kobzar.

“Picardy Tertia” – “Oh, romance blooms on the mountain”

In 2018, the band presented a song set to the words of our poet. The track was included in the 15th studio album. The music was created by composer Ihor Pelykh, and the arrangement was done by one of the vocalists of “Pikkardijska Tertsia” – Andriy Kapral.

Artem Pivovarov and DOROFEEVA – “My Thoughts”

It's no secret that the singer's project “Your Poems, My Notes” has gained well-deserved popularity. Within its framework, the artist recorded songs to the words of Ukrainian poets. One of the brightest examples of this creativity is the collaboration with Nadezhda Dorofeeva. The performers in a duet released the track “My Thoughts”, in which they combined a mixture of emotions associated with the war in Ukraine.

“Dead Rooster” – “The Cherry Orchard”

The Lviv rock band, which used Shevchenko's poem for the song, made the track quite original. The words, familiar to us from school, sound so good today that you want to dance.

“Skryabin” – “Oh, it's not the same to me”

The band recorded and performed a song in which they used words from the Kobzar's poem “I don't care whether I will or not.” At one time, Andriy Kuzmenko explained why his team was guided by the genius's work.

The Kharkiv band, which combines many styles in its music, once presented a track using lines from a poem by Taras Shevchenko. This is not a new experience for the team, as it is engaged in the popularization of Ukrainian folk songs in order to give them a “second life”.
