Sunflowers near embassy in Washington: Ukrainian activists draw attention to Russian war crimes
The representatives of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, activists and diplomats held a rally near Russia’s embassy in Washington, having planted sunflowers on the lawns as one of the main symbs of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom.
The event was public and took place on May 27, 2023, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We have come to the Russian embassy to plant sunflowers, our national flowers, which became a symb of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and independence, as well as to remind Russia of its criminal war and to emphasize that Ukraine will continue to fight until its entire territory is liberated,” Nada Shaporynska, the President of US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) and the organizer of the rally, noted in a commentary to Ukrinform.
