Serhiy Zhadan and the band “Zhadan and Dogs” became guests of Tina Karol's author's project “House of Recording”. The musicians performed the song “Sisters of Vicky” (Viktoria Vradiy) – “Ukraine Rock-n-Roll”.
The new release of “House of Recording” has been released on the project's YouTube channel. It was recorded in the hall of Ukrainian Radio.
Sister Vika released the song “Ukraine Rock-n-Roll” back in 2003. The author of the lyrics is Zenoviy Filipchuk.
The band “Zhadan i Sobaky” performed the track “Ukraine Rock-n-Roll” in their signature style. The musicians presented a new arrangement. The band has loved their sister Vika for a long time.
I remember listening to her for the first time in Kharkiv, probably in the fall of 1991, during the tour of the “Chervona Ruta” laureates. It was loud and true. And then, during the Orange Maidan, I invited them and Viktor Morozov to Kharkiv. Vika sang in a small club then. It was a bit of a smooch and you could feel the breath of history,

The band's frontman noted that performing “Ukraine Rock'n'Roll” is an honor and a responsibility. According to Zhadan, it is a song “about true love, which does not appear out of compulsion, but is natural and inevitable.”
Tina Karol claims that the track “Sestrychki Vika” performed by Serhiy Zhadan “sounds not like nostalgia, but like recognition.” The artist added that “House of Recording” “exists precisely for such moments – when a song returns and it turns out that it never went anywhere.”

I did not want to heavily remake her song or compete with the original, on the contrary, I just wanted to remind you that she left behind a great legacy that has not disappeared anywhere and is worth being proud of,

Who is Sister Vika?

Sister Vika is a star of the 90s, originally from Lviv. Lviv residents called the singer “The Konotop Witch” because she lived on Konotopska Street and had a gloomy style.

Vika began her musical career while still a schoolgirl. In 1976, she became a soloist of the vocal-instrumental ensemble “Arnika”.

While studying at Lviv National University, she was a soloist of the jazz-rock band “Labyrinth”.

Sister Vika collaborated with the cult Ukrainian rock band “Braty Gadyukiny”, took 1st place at the “Chervona Ruta” festival in the rock performers category.

Vradiy was married to Volodymyr Bebeshko. Later, the singer emigrated to the United States and they divorced. She probably still lives overseas.
