Preparing for coronavirus peak: Ukraine’s Dnipro digs over 600 graves beforehand (Video)

There is no crematorium in the city.

Dnipro’s authorities have dug over 600 graves in 12 cemeteries in the city.

“They are going to increase the number,” the TV news service TSN said.

The local municipal services explain that their decision was taken after they had heard feedback from counterparts in Italy and Spain. Mass deaths from the coronavirus have resulted in difficulties with the burial of the dead there.

Dnipro’s City Hall has also bought 2,000 special body bags for burial to minimize the spread of the infection. Additional burial rules will be introduced. There is no crematorium in the city.

No coronavirus-related death has been reported in Dnipropetrovsk region.
