Peru invited to join international coalition for return of Ukrainian children

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Iryna Borovets invited Peru to join the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.

This was discussed during a meeting between Borovets and Peruvian Deputy Foreign Minister Peter Cannon during her working visit to Peru, Ukrinform reports, citing the Foreign Ministry's press service.

In particular, according to the statement, the parties discussed ways to deepen pitical and economic bilateral coeration, as well as intensify pitical contacts, including contacts at the highest level.

During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine paid special attention to the discussion of achieving sustainable peace in Ukraine and the importance of invving Peru in the President of Ukraine's Peace Formula, as well as Peru's participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland at the highest level.

"Borovets invited the Peruvian side to join the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children," the Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, during a meeting with Peruvian Minister of Justice and Human Rights Eduardo Arana, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of strengthening coeration in the field of justice and human rights, including efforts to bring Russia to justice for war crimes committed in Ukraine and for human rights viations in the temporarily occupied territories.

The Deputy Minister also met with Alejandro Aguinaga, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Peruvian Congress, to discuss the strengthening of inter-parliamentary coeration and further enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries. The parties welcomed the establishment of the inter-factional association "Ukraine – Latin America and the Caribbean: Coeration for the Future" in Ukraine and the readiness of parliamentarians from both countries to intensify contacts with their cleagues.

Borovets also visited the Diplomatic Academy of Peru to discuss with its rector, Julio Garro Galvez, the possibilities of develing academic exchange and coeration in the field of diplomatic training.

During a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian community in Lima, Borovets shared ideas on strengthening ties with Ukrainian communities abroad and thanked them for their activism in favour of Ukraine and preserving Ukrainian identity in Latin America.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasises that this visit was a logical step in the implementation of Ukraine's declared position to intensify coeration with Latin American countries and restart our bilateral relations.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Russia is making the greatest efforts to pose the Global Peace Summit among the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
