Why didn't Oleg Skrypka know about Ukraine?
The artist was born in Tajikistan and spent his school years in the Kursk region. In the project “33 Questions from Lux FM”, Skrypka said that as a child he went to Poltava region to visit relatives, and, according to him, at that time he “did not know that Ukraine existed.”
When Skrypka returned to Kurshchyna from a visit, he spoke Ukrainian. At that time, his peers called him “Khokhlo”.
I didn't feel any humiliation of the national character then. On the contrary, they sang in Ukrainian, I even remember that I studied Ukrainian works at our amateur art school or at music school. They didn't separate Ukrainians from themselves then,

How was the band “VV” created?
After graduating from the 9th grade, Oleg entered the correspondence school of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. And in 1986, he graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
“Vopli Vidoplyasov” was officially formed in 1987. In the first year of the band's activity, the hit “Dances” was written, with which the musicians won the Kyiv rock festival.

In the early 90s, the young band decided to go to France. A year later, “VV” released their debut album “Abo-Abo”. Interestingly, Skrypka had previously admitted that it was abroad that he felt like a Ukrainian.

In 1996, “VV” again performed in Ukraine, and also toured in Russia and other countries of the world.
In 2004, Skrypka first organized the “Land of Dreams” festival.
We were already continuing to fight for our independence. And in 2004, we massively sang the anthem, which was not popular among Ukrainians at the time,

During his singing career, the performer received two important awards: 2005 – the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, 2022 – awarded the Order of Merit, III degree.
Personal life of Oleg Skrypka
When the musician was in Paris in the 90s, he met French cabaret dancer Marie Ribault. The artist quickly proposed to her, and the wedding was modest. Some even said that Skrypka got married in order to get a visa.
The marriage lasted 7 years. In the end, the frontman of the band “VV” left his beloved.
In Ukraine, the artist met Natalia Sid and married her in 1997.

Four children were born to this marriage: Roman and Ustym, Olesya and Zoryana. The wife very rarely appears with her husband at public events, as she prefers peace and quiet at home.

The artist continues to pursue a musical career in Ukraine. He gives interviews relatively often and also appears in various television entertainment programs.
