Deputy Minister of Health Yevhen Gonchar announced this on the TV channel, as reported by Ukrinform.
“The number of patients using the program is increasing every year. Since the launch of the program, more than 5 million people have taken advantage of its benefits. In the first half of this year alone, their number exceeded 2.5 million. This trend is expected to continue,” Gonchar said.
He emphasized that the program includes almost 600 types of medicines and medical products that patients can receive for free or with a minimal surcharge. According to Gonchar, this list will be expanded.
“Every year we also increase the funding for the program. This year, more than UAH 6 billion have been allocated for it. In the event of a shortage of funds, we will raise the issue of additional redistribution or the use of other resources available to the government to ensure the necessary funding. Expanding the Affordable Medicines program is one of our main tasks, as it allows more patients to receive the necessary medications,” the deputy minister noted.
He added that more than 2,000 pharmacies have already joined the program.
