Iceland president meets with Ukrainian children
That's according to Forseti Islands, Ukrinform reports.
Children aged 8 to 15 came to Iceland this fall from various parts of Ukraine. All of them received temporary shelter in the western part of Reykjavík. Now they and their families are looking for permanent housing.
"The organization Support Ukraine Iceland supports the refugees and has organized various events to make the children happy while they adapt to their new life in Iceland," the report said.
Among them was a Christmas visit to Bessastadir, the official residence of the president of Iceland, where the president welcomed the children, their parents and teachers.
Kristofer Gajowski, organizational manager for Support Ukraine Iceland, and Mykhailo Ivaniak, a priest from Ukraine who serves Ukrainian refugees in Iceland, were also present at the meeting.
The children brought flowers and Ukrainian handicrafts to the President as a token of gratitude for the support of the Icelandic pele.
