The “Homin” choir of the Lviv Organ Hall has become a real phenomenon of our stage: sold-out shows in Lviv, Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine and Europe, a new wave of popularity of choral music. Now it is much more than just a collective. These are musicians who unite Ukrainians all over the world. And very soon the choir will go on tour in the USA, where it will once again give a piece of home to the Ukrainian diaspora.
On the eve of a large-scale tour, an exhibition dedicated to the “Homin” choir opened in the Lviv Organ Hall. It contains the most vivid details from the life of the collective, starting from August 2025. After all, it was then that the whole of Ukraine learned about “Homin”. During a tour of this exhibition, Channel 24 talked with one of the directors of the Lviv Organ Hall – Taras Demko. Read about the phenomenon of the choir, planned events and much more in the material.
About the first large-scale tour of the “Homin” choir, booking and exhibition
How and who came up with the idea of an exhibition dedicated to the activities of the “Homin” choir?
This was our team's idea. Last year, the “Homin” choir had a unique tour, there was nothing like it in our culture before. From the first concerts, in August 2025, I realized that this was something unusual. One concert at the Lviv Opera – a sold-out. The second concert – a sold-out. The tenth concert – a sold-out. People I know already said: “10 sold-out performances in a row at the Lviv Opera for one program – this has never happened before.” Then we were even told to set a record, but we are not chasing records.
People continued to go, queues formed in different cities for Gomon's concerts. During this tour, there were a lot of different stories, funny situations, meetings with politicians, famous people, bloggers. We recorded all this and decided to collect it into an exhibition. And this exhibition consolidates emotions, many hundreds of photos in the format of photo drying, some of the most interesting photos in the format of large ones, individual artifacts, a piece of the rocket hull, some small sentimental things, such as a tuning fork with which the conductor tunes the choir, etc.
The goal of this exhibition is to show that the choir is not only about music, about a concert, it is also about a huge amount of emotions, talent, and behind-the-scenes work. And that the choir is not just a one-song group, but a group with a great history, with a wealth of repertoire programs and plans.
How long did it take to implement the idea?
Several months passed from the birth of the idea to its implementation.

The opening of the exhibition comes after a large-scale Ukrainian and European tour. How was the diaspora abroad and what challenges did you have to face during these concerts?
There were halls where it was very cold. Then the choristers decided to put aside their stage clothes and perform in hoodies with our logos, because they are much warmer. During the concert in Paris, the lights went out. It was very symbolic, because at that time there were blackouts in Ukraine due to missile attacks.
Often, only Ukrainians came to concerts in European cities. This was also unique, because it shows that choral music unites Ukrainians abroad. And this is another mission of the choir, which arose during the war.
You had several important meetings in Europe, including in London with Valery Zaluzhny and a speech in the Austrian parliament. Who initiated this, were you invited, or did you initiate the meetings yourself?
It happens in very different ways. And each of these meetings is very memorable. Consuls in different countries communicate with our choristers and also tell what difficulties they encounter there, to explain how all this can work to help our country.
Currently, Ukraine is facing an acute issue of mobilization and departure abroad of men liable for military service. As for the choir, do the men have reservations? Is the “Homin” choir part of Ukraine's critical infrastructure?
We work officially, so we don't have any difficulties with reservations. However, if there are any misunderstandings, we try to find ways to resolve them.

150 thousand people at concerts, corporate events and a tour of America
Your tour of America will start very soon. How many spectators do you plan to gather at your concerts?
I can't give an exact number right now, because each city has its own organizers, but I think it will be sold out everywhere.
I can say that from August 2025 to today, 150 thousand people have attended the concerts of the “Homin” choir. This is a huge number.
Will your new program be in America, or the one you have already toured Ukraine and Europe with?
This is a program with which we toured Europe, but America has not heard it yet. This program is very much awaited there, so we decided to repeat it. At the same time, we are already preparing a new program, which will be presented for the first time in the Lviv Organ Hall. Of course, we cannot do it somewhere else. And after the premiere in the Organ Hall, we will go on a tour of Ukrainian cities with this program.

In addition to the American tour, you have announced a second tour of Europe, as well as a tour of Ukraine with an updated program. What exactly will surprise you in the new program?
There will be many new songs that are also popular among Ukrainian listeners. Of course, we will surprise you with unexpected arrangements.
Many artists' concerts have discounts for military personnel or even free admission. Is there a similar opportunity for military personnel to get to Gomon concerts? And if so, who can I contact with this question?
It is important to note that we do not separate the “Homin” choir from other projects of the Lviv Organ Hall, because the collective is an inseparable part of our institution. The rule in the Organ Hall is that we will always find a place for the military, because these are the people to whom we owe our security and lives.
But if we are talking about events where we are only performers, then we need to contact the organizers, because all organizers have their own rules.
I remember that before one of the concerts that took place in Eastern Ukraine, a married couple wrote to us. The lovers planned to celebrate their anniversary at our concert, but there were no tickets. They begged us to find a place for them. Of course, we went to the meeting, and it was a very warm evening for all of us.
The “Homin” choir refused to perform at “Quarter 95” after the scandal with the corrupt Mindich. Do you generally perform at corporate parties, birthdays, and other events?
No, we don't perform, it's not a priority for us. And there's no time for it. Although there are dozens of requests with such proposals. If we manage to perform somewhere, it's very, very rare.
For example, once we were able to find a place to perform at a charity event in Kyiv, which was organized by some philanthropic organization. We couldn’t refuse, so we joined the event before the concert. But it was a big charity goal and we managed to organize everything in such a way that we had time to perform there. Such cases are rather the exception, because the choir’s schedule is very tight.

Does the “Homin” choir perform for defenders in military units or in the frontline zone?
There have been no such requests so far. And our schedule is very busy, and absolutely every concert has a charitable purpose. In my opinion, it would be better for us to collect a few million in charitable aid and purchase the necessary things and equipment for our defenders than to come and sing. But if there is such a request and opportunity, then, of course, we will plan performances and will be happy to sing for those to whom we owe our lives.
The “Homon” tour of the cities of the USA and Canada begins in April 2026. The choristers will also perform again in cities of Europe. For detailed information, please visit the choir's social media pages.
