Ukraine's records at Eurovision / Collage of Channel 24
Our country has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2003. Then the first representative from Ukraine was Oleksandr Ponomarev with the song Hasta la vista. This year, the 21st Ukrainian participant went to the show, who will compete for the right to win.
Over the years, Ukraine has won three times. In 2004, the first victory was brought to us by singer Ruslana and her “Wild Dances”, in 2016 – Jamala with the song “1944”, and in 2022 – Kalush Orchestra – “Stefania”. Despite the fact that our country did not become the record holder for victories, it was able to set another important record. Such statistics indicate that Ukraine has a “high success rate”, because compared to other countries that have been competing for over 20 years, they have not been able to win more than 7 victories. Further in the material , 24 Channel will tell you what it is about.
So, Ukraine is the only country that has never missed the final of the competition since the introduction of the semi-finals. Every time our country has performed, we have always been in the finals. This year, we hope that LELÉKA will continue this unique record.
And that's not all. We have already mentioned that in 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, our country was represented at Eurovision by the Kalush Orchestra band. Then the band set a record for the audience vote , receiving 439 points out of 468 possible. The total number of points is 631. The only person to receive more was the Portuguese Salvador Sobral in 2017 with a score of 758 points.
