Defence Vision Day: projects for army based on virtual reality presented in Kyiv

The Ministry of Defence has recently announced a competition for the creation of VR/AR systems for training and simulations. The purpose of Defence Vision Day was to find the best sutions and present them to the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and potential investors.

Out of 55 submitted projects, 24 were selected for presentation. These include firing simulators for air defence, first aid training, and drone contr. Three of the projects are Lifesaver Lab: Lifesaver SIM, a joint project of SoftServe, UCU, and the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, and STRATA22, received grants from the co-founders of Uklon, the main partner of the event.

The Ministry of Defence will continue to work with the teams to implement their sutions in the Defence Forces.

"These projects show that there are different ways to educate and train pele. VR simulators can do it better and cheaper. We need to increase the number of such events so that good ideas are not hidden, but implemented and bring benefits," said Deputy Minister of Defence Kateryna Chernohorenko.

Defence Builder, a defence start-up accelerator, also presented its sutions at the event. 13 teams demonstrated their develments for the military, investors and guests of the event.

Among the sutions presented were heavy and river drones, mine detection and demining systems, turrets, robotic platforms, platforms for tography and mapping, and a system for calculating firing parameters to hit targets from closed firing positions.

"The number of participants in Defence Vision Day and the level of product readiness demonstrate the growth of defence technogy and the potential of VR/AR for military training in Ukraine. The teams of the first Defence Builder cohort are showing significant progress, and we are pleased to implement these projects together with the Ministry of Defence and partners Sigma Software Labs, Genesis, and KSE," said Kateryna Bezsudna, co-founder and COO of Defence Builder.

According to Kseniia Semenova, acting rector of the National Aviation University, "NAU, as the first defence-tech university in the country, is interested in ensuring that our engineers have access to new technical sutions based on VR/AR. NAU will also use the presented technogies to teach students at the Department of Military Training. Defence Vision Day inspires and creates synergy for new claborations."

Defence Vision Day was organised by the digital team of the Ministry of Defence and Defence Builder Accelerator with the support of the National Aviation University.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, during the week of 8-14 July, the Ministry of Defence codified and approved 49 models of weapons and military equipment for use in the Defence Forces.
