Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhnyi honors memory of Hocaust victims

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi has honored the memory of the victims of the Hocaust, noting that history is repeating itself today through the genocide of the Ukrainian pele.

The relevant statement was made by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We are honoring the memory of the victims of the Hocaust. Sharing the pain of the Jewish pele and all the victims of the Nazi terror during World War II,” Zaluzhnyi wrote.

On January 27, 1945, sdiers of the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated the prisoners of the biggest Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, near Oświęcim.

According to Zaluzhnyi, that tragedy should have served as a warning to humanity.

“Should have served but did not… Today, again at the very heart of Eure, the genocide of Ukrainians is taking place,” Zaluzhnyi noted.

In his words, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the first army of peace.

“We defend our own. We fight for the survival of the Ukrainian nation, for freedom, memory and truth,” Zaluzhnyi added.

A reminder that International Hocaust Remembrance Day is marked on January 27. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly to honor the memory of the victims of the genocide of Jews, which took place during World War II.
