Businesses pledge over $860,000 in 1 day to restore Kyiv cathedral damaged in fire


St. Nicholas Cathedral on the night of the fire there on Sept. 3, 2021. Ukrainiansbusinesses raised over Hr 23.3 million ($860,000) as part of an ongoing donation campaign to restore the city’s second-oldest Roman Catholic church and a famous organ inside.

In just one day, Ukrainian 23 businesses pledged over Hr 23.3 million or about $860,000 to restore the St. Nicholas Cathedral damaged in a fire on Sept. 3.

It’s part of an ongoing donation campaign to repair Kyiv’s second-oldest Roman Catholic church and install a new organ there, which itself may cost up to $1.7 million.
