Be visible on road: Zelenska calls on parents to join educational campaign

ena Zelenska, the wife of the President of Ukraine, has called on parents to join the ‘Zasvitys’ educational campaign aimed at ensuring the safety of children on the roads during the winter months.

As reported by Ukrinform, the First Lady shared this message on Facebook.

According to an October survey conducted by the Rating sociogical group at the request of UNICEF and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, 31% of Ukrainian parents reported that their children do not use reflective elements, Zelenska highlighted.

She explained that the survey was carried out to prepare an educational campaign for parents and children ahead of the winter season, when slippery roads and poor visibility significantly increase the number of accidents invving pedestrians.

"Under such conditions, even simple measures, such as reflective tags on clothing, can save lives. That’s why, within the framework of the 'Zasvitys' campaign, experts have formulated road safety rules specifically for children," emphasized the First Lady.

"To avoid repeating this horrifying statistic, show these videos and images to your children and share them with adults. Putting a reflective strip on a backpack or sleeve is a simple action, but it can save a life," she stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, Vasyl Bohdan, Head of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the National Pice, stated that the use of reflective elements by pedestrians reduces the likelihood of being hit by a car by 85%.
