“We were left with a big scare”: residents of damaged houses in Darnytsia district talk about the Russian attack

Four multi-story buildings were damaged in the Darnytsia district as a result of the Russian Federation's night attack on Kyiv. The glass in the buildings was shattered. Cars parked nearby were also damaged.

The explosion occurred around 3 a.m., local residents say. The debris damaged windows and balconies.

“We woke up to the explosion, all the windows were open. I remembered that there was also a balcony. One window was broken, the fittings were broken. We were very scared, but it's good that everyone is alive and well,” says Vyacheslav, a resident of the damaged high-rise building.

Ms. Lyubov's entire apartment was covered in glass from broken windows. At the time of the explosion, the woman was in the hallway.

“At about 3 a.m. I heard explosions and immediately two walls shook – into the corridor, and then a wave, windows flew out. The balcony was completely damaged, the windows were broken,” the woman says.

In the morning, residents clean the glass in their homes, and they also brought OSB boards so that people can close the broken windows.

On the night of February 12, Russia attacks the capital with ballistic missiles and drones. Two people are known to have been injured. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that the Russian army struck infrastructure facilities. The consequences of the Russian attack were recorded at 3 locations in the Dnipro and Darnytsia districts.
