A shooting occurred in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv this evening. The suspect was detained.
This was reported today, May 18, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
“According to preliminary information, a local resident fired two shots during a conflict with acquaintances, after which he locked himself in his apartment. There were no casualties as a result of the incident,” the report says.
Police and special forces are at the scene and are negotiating with the shooter, the police said.
Law enforcement officers detained the man, the investigation is ongoing, the police were informed at 21:41. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The maximum sanction of the article provides for up to seven years in prison.
