
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported suspicions to two servicemen who may be involved in the sale of ammunition and explosives. According to the investigation, the suspects purchased and stored 500 kilograms of explosives in the Kharkiv region, which were later transported to Kyiv for sale.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation on May 22.
It is said that the investigation into this scheme began in November 2025. Then, during an attempt to sell 500 kilograms of explosives worth 88 thousand US dollars, law enforcement officers detained three military personnel – a colonel and two of his subordinates.
“During the searches, the following were seized: an assault rifle and a submachine gun, over two thousand rounds of ammunition, grenades of various types and grenade launcher rounds, and a container with a rocket,” the report says.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that other servicemen were also involved in the scheme.
“Together with the group members, they purchased and stored 500 kg of explosives in the Kharkiv region, after which they transferred it for transportation to Kyiv for sale,” the report says.

Two servicemen were charged with illegal handling of ammunition and explosives by an organized group. The article carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
Investigators are currently identifying the sources of the weapons and other participants in the scheme.
