Two people fell through the ice on Desenka. One was rescued, the other is being searched for.

In Kyiv yesterday, on the afternoon of February 14, two people fell through the ice on the Dnieper Strait, Desentsi. One teenager was pulled to shore, while divers are searching for the other.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Kyiv.

The teenager, born in 2010, managed to survive the crisis, and upon arrival, he was spotted by rescuers: they took him to the shore in a rubber boat. He ended up in danger almost 300 meters from the shoreline. The boy was handed over to the medics.

The search for the second victim, who disappeared under the ice, is being conducted by divers from the Pleso Community Center. Municipal enterprise of the executive body of the Kyiv City State Administration for the protection, maintenance and operation of water fund lands .

On February 12, the Kyiv Region State Emergency Service reported that rescuers have been searching for a week for the body of a driver whose car fell through the ice on a reservoir near Lebedivka in the Kyiv region during a drift. They have already examined about 50 thousand sq.m. of the water surface. The body of one of the deceased was found earlier. According to rescuers, the operation was extremely difficult: thick ice was cut meter by meter, and due to almost zero visibility and a thick layer of silt, divers worked practically blindly.

Spokesperson for the Kyiv Region State Emergency Service Viktoria Ruban told “Suspilne Studio” that in recent weeks, more and more videos have appeared on social networks showing cars going out onto the ice of the Kyiv Sea for drifting. This is a very dangerous type of recreation, despite the severe frost and thick ice.

“The only rule is not to go out onto the ice, not to drive in any case, so that such a situation does not happen. Where there were no ravines yesterday in such frost, with such a thickness of ice, today ravines are appearing in many places. And this is very dangerous,” Ruban emphasized.
