
A resident of Mykolaiv reported to the police on the 112 line that he was planning to blow up one of the metro stations in the capital. Law enforcement officers identified the man within several hours.
This was reported on January 28 by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.
The call to the police came on January 26. The man called from his own mobile phone and reported his intention to blow up one of the metro stations in Kyiv.
“The applicant reported that he allegedly had several kilograms of explosives and was going to commit a crime.”
The man's identity was established within a few hours — the 45-year-old Nikolaev resident was at home, and the report was false.
“During the inspection of his home, the police did not find any explosive objects that could pose a threat. During communication with law enforcement officers, the suspect did not provide any explanations for his actions,” the department reported.
Investigators detained a Nikolaev resident and informed him of suspicion under the article Under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine , “Knowingly false report of preparation of an explosion.” The sanction of the article provides for up to eight years of imprisonment.
The suspect will be placed under preventive detention in the near future.
