The book “Search is a sign of success” was found in the possession of the head of Kyivzelenstroy, who was detained for corruption.

During searches of Kyivzelenbud's managers suspected of corruption, law enforcement officers discovered an ironic find – the book “Search – a Sign of Success.” This added symbolic significance to the case.

Corruption scheme in Kyivzelenbud: details of the investigation

The National Police detained officials of Kyivzelenstroy for organizing a “kickback” scheme. According to the investigation, they received 15% of the amounts transferred to contractors for the work performed. In total, the officials planned to receive at least 25 million hryvnias. In February 2025 alone, the transfer of more than 3 million hryvnias of illegal funds was documented.

Kyivzelenbud is a key municipal enterprise responsible for landscaping the capital. Its budget is used to improve parks, squares, and boulevards. However, as the investigation revealed, part of these funds ended up in the pockets of corrupt officials.

Symbolic book found during search

During searches in the apartment of one of the suspects, investigators found a book by Denis Ovcharov, “Search – a Sign of Success.” This is a legal guide for businessmen and lawyers that explains the rights and obligations during searches. The publication does not contain advice on concealing crimes, but in the context of the case, its discovery looks quite ironic, writes Tramvay.

Experts note that this book has gained popularity among the business community due to its accessible explanation of complex legal procedures. However, in the case of Kyivzelenstroy officials, it has become a symbol of their awareness of the possible consequences of corrupt actions.

What punishment does the detainees face?

The detained officials could face punishment for receiving illegal benefits. The sanction includes imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with confiscation of property. Additionally, they could be charged with abuse of office and abuse of authority.

The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are investigating the possible involvement of other officials in the corruption scheme.
