Suspected of robbing a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: police have transferred materials regarding the Kyiv resident to the court

A 42-year-old local resident will go on trial in Kyiv. He is suspected of robbing a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that in December last year, a 22-year-old Kyiv resident contacted the police and reported a robbery. He said that he was walking his dog on European Union Avenue when an unknown person ran up to him, suddenly snatched his mobile phone from his hands and ran away.

Law enforcement officers found out that the victim was a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and had a prosthetic leg. Police later identified the attacker and detained him.

The man was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law. The case materials have now been transferred to the court, the sanction of the article provides for up to ten years in prison.

Earlier it was reported that a former military man in a wheelchair was robbed in the capital. Near one of the shops in the Darnytskyi district, a 32-year-old man snatched 5 thousand hryvnias from him. The attacker turned out to be a Kyiv resident who had been repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility for property crimes. The court took into account the collected evidence and the unserved sentence for fraud and sentenced the defendant to 8 years in prison.
