Suspected of misappropriation of money during renovation of the capital's lyceum: contractor to be tried in Kyiv

The director of a construction company will go on trial in Kyiv. He is accused of embezzling money during the renovation of the Polytechnic Lyceum.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that last fall, law enforcement officers exposed the head of a contracting organization that was doing repairs at the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU “KPI”. The 42-year-old suspect undertook to make major repairs to the premises of the educational institution. Later, according to the investigation, the suspect involved his brother and his roommate as accomplices.

The man signed contracts for them, creating the appearance of additional contractors. According to the expert's conclusions, some of the work on the site was not performed at all, and others were not carried out in full.

“Despite this, the defendant entered false information into the official documentation about the alleged full completion of the work, on the basis of which more than 330 thousand hryvnias of budget funds were unjustifiably transferred to the accounts of controlled persons,” the report says.

The case will be considered in court under Part 3 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organization of appropriation of someone else's property committed under martial law). The sanction of the articles provides for up to eight years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in relevant activities for a term of up to three years.

It was previously reported that the Podilskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has filed charges against the director of a private company. He is suspected of embezzling money during the construction of modular homes in the village of Moschun.
