Six people were poisoned by carbon monoxide in one night in the Kyiv region

On the night of January 22, six people in the Kyiv region were poisoned by carbon monoxide due to violation of safety rules when heating their home and using a generator.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of the Kyiv region.

In one of the settlements of Buchansky district, a family of three people, including two children, was hospitalized. According to rescuers, the residents of the apartment used the gas burners of the kitchen stove to heat the room. After some time, the people felt a sharp deterioration in their well-being, and with signs of carbon monoxide poisoning they were hospitalized to the hospital.

Another incident occurred in the morning in the Bila Tserkva district. A family of three people — two adults and one child — was affected. As experts established, the cause of the poisoning was a gasoline generator. The device was operating in the basement of a residential building.

Rescuers emphasize that carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless and is deadly. To avoid tragedy, experts urge: do not use gas stoves, ovens, or burners to heat rooms, do not turn on generators in closed or semi-closed rooms — even in basements or on balconies, regularly ventilate homes and check the health of ventilation ducts.
