A local resident was convicted in Kyiv. Law enforcement officers proved that she passed on information to the Russians about the military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, critical infrastructure facilities, etc. The court found her guilty of treason during martial law.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to the case materials, from March to July 2022, the Kyiv resident photographed the locations of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Terroborona checkpoints, critical infrastructure facilities, and civilian and military facilities in Kyiv and the region.
She sent the photos, along with the coordinates of these objects, to her civilian husband, who lived in Crimea. He later passed them on to Russian representatives.
“In total, the woman collected and transmitted data on 21 objects, including photographing dozens of checkpoints around Kyiv, SBU objects, and the territory of one of the military units near which she was detained,” the report says.
In her defense, the Kyiv woman initially said that she had sent her husband pictures of Kyiv during the war. At the same time, her husband's instructions on what and how to photograph were found on her. Later, the woman began to claim that she had not photographed anything at all. The court sentenced her to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
It was previously reported that law enforcement officers detained two unemployed men on suspicion of treason. They are accused of passing on information to the Russians about the locations of thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, and military units in the capital and Kyiv region.
The SBU also detained a suspected agent of the Russian FSB in Kyiv. According to the investigation, the suspect collected coordinates of potential “targets” for the Russians to attack the city during the fall of this year. Also, during business trips, he monitored the consequences of “arrivals” at the capital's energy facilities, which he immediately “reported” to the FSB to adjust for repeated strikes.
