Seven years in prison: former court employee accused of drug trafficking

The Fastiv City District Court of the Kyiv region found a 38-year-old native of the Bila Tserkva district guilty of drug trafficking.

Prosecutors proved in court that a resident of the city of Uzyn worked as a court secretary in one of the courts of the Kyiv region. According to the case materials, in early August 2020, she purchased cannabis from an unidentified person. After that, on the same day, she transported the drug to work by car.

“Later, while in the courthouse, the woman illegally sold the drug to another person. The accused did not admit her guilt,” the report says.

The court, having examined the evidence, found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 307 Illegal acquisition, transportation, storage for the purpose of sale and sale of a particularly dangerous narcotic drug, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons and in places of mass gathering of citizens , is punishable by 7 years of imprisonment.

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers in the capital uncovered an extensive network of drug laboratories. According to police, it was organized by two Kyiv residents. The suspects produced up to 25 kg of amphetamine and LSD every month. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.

Law enforcement officers have detained two men on suspicion of selling large amounts of mephedrone and amphetamine across the country. According to investigators, the suspects, aged 31 and 45, set up garages in Kyiv where they stored and packaged drugs and sold them via Telegram. Law enforcement officers conducted searches in the capital, Cherkasy and Odessa regions and seized goods worth 95 million hryvnias.
