Scared an employee of a metropolitan shopping mall with explosives: law enforcement officers in Kyiv detained a pseudo-miner

In Kyiv, police detained a 31-year-old local resident. The suspect told a shopping mall employee that he allegedly had an explosive device that could detonate.

This was reported today, May 5, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that law enforcement officers received a message from an employee of a store located in one of the shopping centers in the Dnipro district. The woman said that an unknown man approached her and, saying that there was an explosive device in his backpack that could detonate at any moment, left the establishment.

“Within a few hours, criminal investigation officers, together with criminal analysis analysts, identified the perpetrator – he turned out to be a 31-year-old local resident. The police checked the contents of the suspect's backpack and did not find any explosive items,” the report says.

Law enforcement officers detained the man and informed him of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – knowingly false report of preparation of an explosion that threatens the death of people or other serious consequences. The sanction of the article provides for up to six years in prison.

It was previously reported that a 35-year-old Kyiv resident came to a pharmacy drunk to purchase prescription medications. After being refused by pharmacists, he left a bag in the premises and reported the alleged presence of TNT. Law enforcement officers did not find any explosives.
