In Kyiv, law enforcement officers discovered underground warehouses where alcohol was illegally produced under the names of well-known brands. About 50 tons of the alcohol mixture were stored there.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the investigation, the alcohol mixture was planned to be used to produce vodka, rum, and whiskey under the logos of popular brands.
“During authorized searches of warehouses, about 50 tons of alcoholic mixture and alcohol, over a thousand tetrapacks with finished products, paper boxes for packaging whiskey and rum, as well as equipment used for bottling adulterated alcohol were seized,” the report says.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway under Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods). All seized products have been sent for examination.
It was previously reported that law enforcement officers have exposed a group of people suspected of organizing the illegal sale of tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and alcohol. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 15,000 packs of cigarettes, almost a thousand e-cigarettes and containers with smoking liquids, 130 packs of tobacco, almost 200 liters of counterfeit alcohol, cash, mobile phones and draft notes.
