The Kyiv Metro has continued its spring recruitment for electric train driver courses. The courses last about 25 weeks, during which students undergo a full cycle of training — from theory to practice.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“The Kyiv Metro provides passenger transportation and operates as a 24-hour shelter for the population. In accordance with the legislation, the enterprise provides for the reservation of military personnel,” the Kyiv City State Administration noted.
The courses are free of charge and include a monthly stipend of UAH 13,000.
Training schedule:
- Monday-Thursday — 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday — from 8:00 to 15:45
- Saturday and Sunday are weekends.
“During the theory, students master traffic safety rules, the structure of trains and their technical features. The practical block involves 10 weeks of train practice on metro lines, work in an electric depot, practicing maneuvers and actions in emergency situations. The number of places is limited – 30 students, 10 people in each electric depot. After successfully completing the training and passing the exams, graduates will receive the right to drive a train and begin independent work,” the report says.
Advantages of working as an electric train driver: official employment, a rotating work schedule with a 6–8 hour work shift, career growth.
An electric train driver has additional payments for qualification class, length of service, harmful working conditions, work in the evening or night hours, etc. The average salary is from 40,000 UAH.
