Psychotropic drugs worth over UAH 3 million seized: law enforcement officers exposed a couple of students in Kyiv

In the capital, law enforcement officers have arrested an 18-year-old student and a 16-year-old student. They are suspected of trafficking in psychotropic drugs.

This was reported today, May 6, by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that the sale was organized by a college student who involved his girlfriend, also a student, in the trade.

“Operators of the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department received information that two students in the district are engaged in the sale of psychotropic substances through postal services. Thus, law enforcement officers detained a 16-year-old girl on the street with two kilograms of Alpha-PVP salts,” the report says.

The investigation established that the suspect disguised the psychotropic drug in packages and tried to send them to customers by mail. Later, law enforcement officers found her accomplice. During a search of the suspects' rented apartment, investigators discovered a “warehouse” of drugs. They seized: about three kilograms of Alpha-PVP, scales, packaging materials, packaging materials, etc.

“According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seized consignment on the “black market” is over three million hryvnias,” the police informed.

Investigators informed the defendants of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues in especially large quantities of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Currently, psychotropic drug supply channels are being established and the issue of additional qualification is being resolved, the department reported.

It was previously reported that the capital's law enforcement officers detained four Kyiv residents aged 42-52 on suspicion of trafficking cannabis. According to investigators, the suspects sold drugs to customers both in the capital and by mail to other regions.

Law enforcement officers also reported the exposure of a group in Kyiv. According to the case materials, its members were trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances in the capital. The “goods” were transferred through taxi services.
