Overpaid more than half a million hryvnias for road salt: law enforcement officers suspect a municipal worker in the capital

The capital's law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to the head of the department of the Kyiv City Road and Operational Department for Repair and Maintenance of Highways and Structures on Them in the Shevchenkivskyi District. He is accused of official negligence.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation established that the suspect, in accordance with his official duties, was responsible for public procurement. He did not monitor the market value of road salt, as a result of which the utility company purchased it at inflated prices at the end of 2023. More than 500 thousand hryvnias were overpaid from the budget.

The official's actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence that caused grave consequences. The sanction of the article provides for up to five years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers sent charges to the court against the head of the “SHEU” municipal enterprise of the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. He is suspected of official negligence. According to the case materials, he improperly organized the process of purchasing rock salt, as a result of which more than 800 thousand hryvnias were overpaid from the budget.

Law enforcement officers also sent two charges to the court against the head of the municipal enterprise “SHEU Podilskyi district” in Kyiv. The investigation established that the municipal enterprise under the leadership of the defendant purchased road salt. Its cost was overstated by more than 850 thousand hryvnias. The suspect also did not analyze the prices of asphalt concrete mixture. As a result, it was purchased, overpaying almost 750 thousand hryvnias.
