A gymnasium in the village of Mircha, Kyiv region, has been renovated. In March 2022, this school suffered serious damage during hostilities.
This was announced by the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.
It is noted that the gymnasium is located in the Borodyansk community. During the shelling, windows and doors were broken in the institution, bullet marks remained on the facade and explosive devices were found on the territory. The school was rebuilt with the support of UNDP and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. The gymnasium became a pilot example of reconstruction based on the principle of “rebuild better than it was,” Kalashnyk noted.

The facility also has new furniture, modern classrooms, updated sports spaces, and a landscaped area.

The school's students also participated in the design of the school space. Their ideas and visions were taken into account when creating the interiors and functional areas. Currently, 73 students study here, including children with special educational needs and from IDP families.
“In total, 265 educational institutions were damaged or destroyed in the Kyiv region. 222 have already been restored, and the Myrchanska Gymnasium became the 223rd. Currently, 19 educational facilities are under construction: from complete new construction to large-scale reconstruction and restoration,” said Kalashnyk.
