
Over two thousand road accidents occurred in the Kyiv region last year.
This was reported by the press service of the patrol police of the Kyiv region.
“In 2025, police officers in the Kyiv region registered 2,101 road accidents with victims, in which 241 people died and 2,646 people were injured,” the report says.
The main causes of car accidents:
- exceeding the safe and established speed limit
- violation of maneuvering rules
- violation of intersection traffic rules.
In total, police in Ukraine registered 25,934 road accidents with victims last year. 3,249 people died, 31,898 were injured. Some of the main causes of road accidents:
- exceeding the safe and established speed limit (40.8% of all road accidents with serious consequences
- violation of traffic rules at unregulated pedestrian crossings
- violation of rules when changing direction
- failure to maintain a safe distance
- violation of traffic rules at unregulated intersections.
Among the accidents: 42.9% were collisions, 25.7% were pedestrian strikes, and 12.7% were obstacles. 643 road accidents with victims during the year occurred because drivers were drunk. It was in such accidents that 73 people died and 857 were injured.
Previously, the patrol police of Kyiv and the region drew attention to the fact that during stabilization power outages, pedestrians become less visible to drivers. Residents should wear reflective items — flickers — in the evening. They can be in the form of a badge, bracelet, sticker, or be part of clothing, for example, a vest.
