One person killed, two injured: man detonates grenade in capital apartment

An explosion occurred in an apartment in Kyiv tonight, February 13. One person died as a result. Law enforcement officers have detained a man suspected of detonating a grenade.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that the incident occurred today at around 2 a.m. in the Obolon district of the capital. Law enforcement officers have previously established that a 29-year-old serviceman, who is in the SZCH (unauthorized abandonment of the unit), came to visit his comrade. There, together with a group of seven people, they were drinking alcoholic beverages.

“Later, during a sudden conflict, the offender detonated an F-1 grenade in the kitchen, as a result of which the 45-year-old owner of the house died at the scene, and another guest, a 36-year-old local resident, was hospitalized with injuries to his body,” the report says.

The police detained the suspect. He received shrapnel wounds to his leg and is currently under the supervision of doctors and law enforcement officers. The investigation is ongoing under Part 5, Part 2, Article 115 Intentional murder committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A notice of suspicion is prepared for the detainee and the issue of detention is resolved. The maximum sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment.

Earlier, it was reported about an incident in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv. Near a residential building, a 40-year-old man was drinking alcohol in the company of friends and provoked a conflict with local residents. During the argument, the Kyiv resident pulled out a traumatic pistol, shot at two passers-by and wounded two men. Law enforcement officers identified him and searched for him. The suspect faces up to 7 years in prison.
