Kyiv police detained and charged a former medic. According to police, he demanded money from a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for disability benefits.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.
It is noted that a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine applied to one of the medical institutions. He needed to establish a disability group. In May 2025, a 46-year-old man was declared unfit for service by a military medical commission after injuries received on the front line.
According to the case materials, the veteran came across a 41-year-old doctor who was no longer officially working at the medical facility. He used his previous connections and continued to consult citizens.
The investigation established that the defendant demanded $6,000 from the veteran, allegedly for influencing officials and doctors to establish disability. As well as for the services of entering information about the patient's health status into the electronic system and forming an electronic referral, which, according to the law, are free of charge.
“During another meeting at a medical facility, the defendant received $6,000 in illegal benefits from a veteran, after which he was detained by police,” the report says.
The man was informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 368 Aiding an official in obtaining an unlawful benefit, committed by a group of persons in a prior conspiracy of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment. Currently, law enforcement officers are identifying all participants in the corruption scheme and other possible episodes of illegal activity.
It was previously reported that an employee of one of the divisions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences will be tried in Kyiv. According to the case materials, the head of the quality control and product safety laboratory demanded almost 250 thousand hryvnias from the entrepreneur. This was a payment for accelerating the issuance of the results of an expert study of a disinfectant. The conclusion was needed for the further sale of the product.
