
The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on February 13 that it had submitted an indictment to the court against an official of the Myronivska community in the Kyiv region. He is suspected of unjustified overpayment of more than UAH 9 million from the budget for heating equipment in the region.
The institution wrote about this on social media.
The suspect is the head of one of the municipal enterprises of the Myronivka City Council. The prosecutor's office qualified his actions under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – embezzlement of budget funds in especially large amounts. The sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of 7-12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to 3 years and confiscation of property.
As Suspilne wrote, at the end of January the man was informed of the suspicion. The investigation believes that the defendant's company entered into a contract with a private company to purchase equipment for the production of thermal energy from alternative fuels worth UAH 16 million. Although the cost of the equipment is about UAH 6.8 million.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office announced on February 11 that a wood-splitting machine was purchased in the capital at an overpriced price, causing losses of more than 1.1 million hryvnias to the Kyiv budget. One of the officials was charged with negligence.
