Law enforcement officers seized an arsenal of weapons from three Kyiv residents

The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office reported suspicions to two Kyiv residents. During the searches, a significant amount of weapons and ammunition was seized from them. In particular, grenades and detonators for them, rifles, hunting carbines, etc.

It is noted that law enforcement officers documented the sale to the suspects of a Glock 21 pistol for $2,900, a Scorpion submachine gun for $1,800, and a Makarov pistol for $1,900. During the last meeting with the buyer, the man was detained.

The prosecutor's office established that the defendant works as a driver at one of the capital's hospitals. During a search of his home and workplace, a significant amount of weapons and ammunition was seized, including hand grenades and detonators for them, automatic weapons, rifles, and hunting carbines.

“In total, searches were conducted at 15 addresses in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. We note that this man is already accused of similar crimes, and cases are pending in courts in other regions,” the report says.

The defendant was charged with illegal sale of weapons (Part 1, Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for up to seven years in prison. The court has currently chosen a preventive measure for him – detention with the right to post bail in the amount of almost 250,000 hryvnias.

The prosecutor's office also informed that while documenting the illegal arms trade, law enforcement officers exposed another Kyiv resident. An arsenal of weapons and ammunition was also seized from his home: 8 rifles, 13 grenades, pistols, 5 assault rifles and a machine gun. He was reported on suspicion of their illegal storage (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The origin of the seized weapons is currently being established.

Updated at 4:38 p.m. Later, the Security Service of Ukraine clarified that, together with the National Police, it had detained three suspects in Kyiv in connection with the illegal trade in captured weapons.

This is a 57-year-old man who previously served a sentence for murder, and now, according to investigators, involved his 65-year-old acquaintance in illegally transporting captured weapons from eastern Ukraine to Kyiv. In a private house, 56 small arms, over 5,500 rounds of ammunition, and a 30-mm automatic grenade launcher were found and seized from them.

“Also, in the Solomyanskyi district of the capital, a dealer was exposed who kept 15 Kalashnikov assault rifles for sale in a rented apartment and his own car,” the SBU added.

Earlier it was reported that in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a man who, according to the investigation, was selling grenades. During searches of his home, another grenade casing and a fuse were seized. The police said that the suspect had previously served time for drug crimes and property crimes, and in April 2025 was released from prison for domestic violence.
